John McIntosh Organ Scholarship

Purpose

This scholarship offers a piano student the opportunity to learn the organ.

The successful applicant receives ten organ lessons with a qualified instructor.
Value of $500.

Target candidate

This scholarship is offered to Piano students, age 25 and under.

Preference will be given to students of Grade 6 piano or higher.

Timeline

Applications for this Scholarship are accepted each year.

The deadline to receive applications is the third Friday of February.

Auditions take place in March.

Audition requirements

1. Repertoire

The candidate is invited to play:
two contrasting piano pieces of their own choice or one piano piece and one hymn both of their own choice.
Total playing time is not to exceed 10 minutes. Performance by memory is not required.

2. Sight Reading: One passage will be chosen by the adjudicators for sight reading.

3. Interview: A short interview will follow the audition to give the adjudicators an opportunity to talk with the candidate about musical background and ambitions.
